Highwire Balance Position for Daring Couples
Also known as The Trapeze, Sky Hold
The Highwire Balance position challenges adventurous couples with an elevated, gravity defying pose built on trust. One partner supports while the other lifts into the air, creating a thrilling mix of strength, focus and closeness. Keep pillows nearby, because the landing after release can be as memorable as the climb.
How to do it
The supporting partner stands with feet planted wide and knees softly bent for a stable base.
The lifted partner wraps their arms around the supporting partner's neck and shoulders for a secure grip.
With a coordinated count, the lifted partner jumps up and locks their legs around the supporting partner's waist.
The supporting partner holds firmly under the thighs or hips to keep the lifted partner steady.
Once balanced, the lifted partner leans back slightly with extended arms as both find a slow rocking rhythm.
When finished, lower down together onto a bed or cushioned surface rather than dropping suddenly.
Tips
Practice the lift fully clothed first so you both learn the timing and grip.
Stand close to a bed, sofa or wall so you have a soft fallback or extra support.
Keep movements slow and controlled, since balance matters more than speed here.
Talk throughout and agree on a simple word that means stop and set down.
Warm up shoulders, back and legs beforehand to reduce strain and boost stamina.
